Prince was a popular American singer, songwriter, musician, and actor. He had 1984’s biggest hit song in the US with When Doves Cry and is best known for his album and movie Purple Rain. In his career, Prince has sold about 100 million records worldwide. He has won seven Grammys from 33 nominations, a Golden Globe, and an Academy Award. Prince was one of the most critically and commercially successful solo musicians of the 20th Century, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. He died at his Paisley Park recording studio and home in Chanhassen, Minnesota, on April 21, 2016.
