About Sigur Rós

Sigur Rós is a post-rock band from Reykjavík, Iceland, formed in 1995. The name is derived from the name of lead vocalist Jónsi Birgisson’s little sister, Sigurrós. The band is known for its ethereal sound, frontman Jónsi Birgisson's falsetto vocals, and the use of bowed guitar. Sigur Rós released their debut album, Von, in 1997. International acclaim came with 1999’s Ágætis byrjun, for which the band were joined by Kjartan Sveinsson.
